The J24 Class needs your help!
CYC is excited to be hosting the 2010 National Championship for this 34 year old class, and we hope to show off Marblehead as a hub of sailing in the northeast. Planning is well underway and we think this is shaping up to be a great regatta.
If you would be willing to help by hosting some sailors in your home on the nights of September 16, 17, and 18, please contact Forbes Barber: 508.954.9190 or forbes.barber@gmail.com
Thank you, I’ll see you on the water!

We had our first time ever CYC team of father/son racing last Saturday during the “Frostbiting” series. It was a wonderful sight. This is a rapidly growing fleet with exceptional sailors of all ages.
Our stars were Thornton Uhl and his dad, Steve. Thornton with his brand new Laser only a week old finished 4th in one race using a Radial Sail which is smaller than what all the adults are using called Full Rigs. Thornton also helped out with race management for two races while dad got to race. Thornton went through the CYC Junior Sailing Program last year - big kudus to him and the program for developing the sailing skills.
There were 10 boats that started the day after three races we ended up with 9 for the rest of the day.
Any CYC members wanting to play can still come and store the boat at EYC or just come to the porch from 1-3 PM and enjoy the sights. Sailing is typically closer to the mouth of the harbor.
Junior Sailing Program
Adult Sailing Program
With the foundations of our junior program well established, we are pleased to announce that we will once again be offering adult sailing classes as part our sailing program this coming summer. Due in large part to the success of this program over its first two years, we will be providing Learn-to-Sail instruction on the Club’s Sonar. Whether you are interested in being introduced to the sport of sailing for the first time or are looking to hone your skills out on the water under the tutelage of our instructional staff, we will tailor each session’s curriculum to the skill level and sailing experience of those participating.
As was the case last summer, there will be 6 different adult classes held over the duration of the summer with the course schedule running Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. The class will run for 5 weeks and will be comprised of 3 adults and 1 instructor. In taking this course, you will learn the parts of the boat and other terminology, points of sail, rigging/derigging, boat handling, body positioning, and basic tuning. There will be some classroom instruction but most of the time will be spent sailing out on the Sonar.
Registration for the adult sailing class will begin on Saturday May 29th of Memorial Day weekend. Please complete the application and medical form, and send them to:
