We are particularly excited about a few new events this summer, such as an on-the-water scavenger hunt where six teams compete for great prizes. A new pool games night will give the CYC staff a chance to go head to head. Watch the tennis, pool, canteen and sailing staff take each other "on" in a shallow-end game of b-ball, followed by a pool games night for families, complete with dinner buffet.

We look forward to seeing you this season and helping us create lots of fun and great memories in 2010!

Tennis News

Our tennis program will be enhanced in 2010 by a dedicated tennis sub-committee focused on expanding our enjoyment on the courts. Look for our tennis social in late June and some new events like the Pan Mass Challenge and interclub junior ladder. Everyone's feet will benefit from our courts resurfacing that will enhance the cushioning effects that we've come to appreciate from our last resurfacing while adding more bounce. Continued focus will be placed on the timing of our popular tournaments and avoiding conflicts with our sister clubs.

The tennis courts are available for play by members from 7AM - 11PM. To obtain specific information, the tennis staff is generally available at the tennis hutch from 8AM - 6PM, or can be reached at 781-631-5124.

Run through September on Monday and Friday mornings from 9-10:30AM and 10:30-Noon plus Monday evenings from 6:30-8PM.

Pool News

The swim team had another successful year in 2009. It is "the thing" to do on Saturday morning at Corinthian. With the "Big Meet" coming to the club in 2010, a lot of swimmers have been sharpening their skills all winter long and are ready to break CYC's records! We are pleased to announce that our kids will be able to enjoy a new diving platform located in the same location as our diving-board. The pool resurfacing last season exceeded expectations and will keep us in great shape until our new pool comes.

The pool first opened in 1937. It was constructed through member donations, and equipped with a salt water intake system. The 25-yard long pool became one of the busiest facilities in the Club. Originally, the pool was, tide permitting, emptied on Sunday afternoons, scrubbed and refilled. After World War II, the addition of a filtration system made regular weekly water changes unnecessary. A modern stainless steel filtration system was installed in 1970 and in 1974, a heater was added. Gradual corrosion caused the eventual breakdown of the salt-water pump system, and a fresh water pump was finally introduced in 1975.

Now over 70 years old, the pool, with its modified gutter system, is considered one of the fastest competitive facilities in the North Shore Swim League. It remains one of the busiest facilities at the Club.
