About the Club
Corinthian Yacht Club, Marblehead, Massachusetts
The Corinthian Yacht Club was founded on July 7,1885, to promote sailing of small boats with a youthful and competitive spirit. Initially the boats were craft of 16 to 30 feet, smaller than the yachts of the day, but today the members sail yachts of all sizes, enjoy cruising as well as racing and own power as well as sailing craft.
The club is a full service yacht club that offers members and visiting skippers a broad range of racing events and accommodations for their stays. The racing calendars are coordinated with the other two major yacht clubs in Marblehead Harbor, the Eastern Yacht Club and the Boston Yacht Club. One design racing is facilitated through the Marblehead Racing Association and handicap racing occurs under PHRF and IMS handicapping through the Mass Bay Sailing Association.
General Information
The Corinthian Yacht Club overlooks the entrance to beautiful Marblehead Harbor. The clubhouse contains a formal dining room complete with a ballroom dance floor. The trophy room is richly appointed in dark paneling and elegantly comfortable furnishings. Half hulls, nautical paintings and prints and numerous hitorically significant gleaming trophies line the walls. The bar is cozy and casual with a fireplace and two televisions for viewing the regions popular sporting events. The harbor room is the place for meetings and kid gatherings for movie nights. The upstairs of the Club contains well-appointed guest rooms.
The property contains an Olympic-sized swimming pool and pool house with all necessary amenities. Two tennis courts and a tennis hutch provide a wonderful venue for tennis enthusiasts. Our state-of-the-art dock on our gorgeous waterfront houses beautiful launch boats, high tech race committee boats and provides the membership with outstanding service.
Reciprocity
The Corinthian Yacht Club has reciprocal arrangements with a number of clubs including: Eastern Yacht Club, Boston Yacht Club, Tedesco Country Club, Salem Country Club, Bear Hill Country Club and Thomson Country Club as well as others.
If you are planning on visiting clubs other than those listed above, please send an email to Susan Bishop, Financial Manager, at sbishop@corinthianyc.org. Susan will gladly draft a letter of introduction for you as a member in good standing. Please include in your email information including the name of the club you will visit, dates of your visit and your membership number.
Dress Code and Club Policies
Throughout the Clubhouse, except as set forth below, and on the Porch, the dress code for members and guests is Smart Casual. This requires a collared shirt, slacks, dress jeans or shorts, and shoes for men, and equally appropriate attire for women.
Neat sailing and tennis attire is acceptable when appropriate.
The wearing of hats is not permitted in the Clubhouse.
In the Ballroom, Dining Room and Trophy Room, no jeans, of any design, or tennis attire are allowed at anytime.
Private Functions
Perched atop its own rocky ledge with a 180-degree view of Marblehead harbor, Corinthian Yacht Club's formal dining room and porch are spectacular spots for events, while the club's Harbor Room offers a more intimate space for smaller functions. For cocktail parties, or the hors d'oeuvres portion of an evening, consider the Corinthian Trophy room, with its paneled walls, stone fireplace and aura of nautical history.
